You should, not all removalist quotes are equal.
Some will include some things some will include others.
I think there are a few points that you should check before accepting a quote.
1. Is this inventory I gave them to quote on the same as the inventory i sent through to the other removalists?
2. Did I tell them that there were Stairs, lift, long walk etc?
3. Did I ask if they were using a truck, container, both, neither?
4. Do they have any insurance?
This is a contentious issue, where removalists are concerned.
In general removalists cannot sell you insurance, unless they have an qualified insurance broker / agent working for them.
However saying that, any removalist worth their salt should have at least the basic type of cover in the event of fire, flood, collision and overturning.
I am not suggesting that they need necessarily extend this cover to cover your goods and belonging.
The best policy, and one we recommend is spending a a little extra and getting your own policy.
However if a removalist does not care enough about their customers, to have that basic type of insurance cover then stay away.
There are many genuine removalists out there trying to compete in a very competitive business, and 90% are good guys, who will do their best to ensure that your move goes smoothly.
There are however a select few that need to be avoided, and in my opinion any company that does not offer a modicum of protection for their customers is one to avoid.
So when you are comparing quotes and comparing companies, check the points listed above, and check that insurance out..
