How many boxes do I need for my move
Working out how many boxes are needed is one of the harder parts of calculating your removalist quotation as unless you have moved previously or are already packed and raring to go it can be difficult to estimate precisely how many cartons or boxes you will need.
We have found that the best way to do this is to estimate your cartons on a room to room basis, as opposed to attempting to make a ‘guestimate’ at the end.
By this we mean as you are walking around your home and listing your furniture and belongings try to visualise contents of cupboards and loose items in piles and then count how many collections you think there will be for each room. Moving Again’s quoting system allows for the fact that you may need to adjust this figure as you progress with your packing, so give it your best shot, and then when you get closer to moving day, complete a new quote online, even if you have already booked, and update your list.
We will then provide you with a more up to date price, so there are no shocks on a moving day.
While interstate removals cartons are in our opinion the best way to transport your belongings safely, we do not insist that these be used, but in terms of your estimate, please be sure to inform us if you are estimating removal cartons or other size boxes as this will affect your quote.

While removal cartons are the best way to transport smaller items, they’re not a requirement by any means. They are just the optimal storage method as removal cartons are designed to be used while moving.
Random boxes you find lying around or from local stores are ok, but professional removal cartons are ideal.
A standard removal carton is approximately 435 x 410 x 600mm.
Don’t put too much thought into the exact number of boxes, for now, the main priority at this stage is accurate with your furniture. We can adjust the total number of boxes closer to the ‘Moving Day.’
If the total only changes by one or two that is fine, but if the number increases or decreases by more than 5 or 6 boxes, please inform us as soon as possible so we may adjust your quote accordingly.
This is especially important if the number increases as we will have to ensure there is sufficient space on the truck or container for all your goods.
We have compiled a list of the most commonly used boxes, which are available through most self-storage facilities.

Tea Chest or Standard Cartons -Ideal for clothes, light items, linen, crockery, glassware etc. 435 x 410 x 600mm

Book or Wine Cartons – Ideal for books, cd’s, breakables, ceramics, etc. 410 x 300 x 435mm

Do I need removalist insurance?
If you are moving a long distance, then you should consider removalist insurance. You would not drive your car without insurance; you have home contents insurance, maybe even you have health insurance
When moving interstate there are always inherent risks involved, so please do check all your options. If you’re putting items in storage - get coverage, to protect against loss or damage. You want to enjoy your new home. Not mourn the loss of expensive furniture or belongings. Moving insurance is your answer.
